Hootsuite Certification Reflection

My Personal review of the Hootsuite Social Marketing Certification and Experience

Coming into this semester I was particularly excited for this Social Media Marketing class. Lees-McRae College and its professors do a great job of constantly throwing new opportunities for students to improve their resumes and their skill sets. I personally thought that it would be a great addition to my “toolbox” to have this certification in Social Media Marketing because as we move forward in the timeline, being able to properly use and utilize social media for the betterment of a company is an increasingly large job market. While taking these certification courses online there was a lot of things that I already knew. It was like a rundown of how these social media apps work, but there was also a plethora of things that I learned from the strategic aspect as far as business to customer and business to business relations. There are also so many way to use Hootsuite itself to link social media platforms and manage them simultaneously. Learning to use Hootsuite to my advantage will be a valuable asset and expand my horizons with managing my social media and learning to market it for others as well. I am proud that I can add this to my resume and become a marketing tool for some company out there very soon.
Hootsuite platform was definitely the more difficult but less lengthy section as it went over the specifics of utilizing Hootsuite, whereas the basic Social Marketing courses actually discussed using Social Media and the proper way to post and communicate with your viewers. I found all of this to be very eye opening and realized that if anyone really wanted too, they can find all these useful resources right at their finger-tips and add these appealing skills to their repertoire. Even though I am not a huge user of Twitter, I have learned enough about it through these courses that in the future I may begin using it again for the simple purpose of business and advertising. Regardless, it has never appealed to me for the simple fact of using it for fun. Facebook is where I am most active, and I have learned many new things about the business side of Facebook that I didn’t know I had access too. Going on these sites and studying these options will building my skillset so I am prepared to do the same for the company that I may work for in the future. The great thing is that no matter who I work for, or what they do, having the ability to market effectively will always be an important position for all these businesses, and I intend to take full advantage of it.
More so, I didn’t learn too much more about the use of Instagram that I didn’t already know. But I did learn about more additional uses of LinkedIn and how viable it can be when combined and linked with your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. One thing that I hope will be added to the Hootsuite courses is how SnapChat can be used for marketing as well. Over the course of the last twelve or more months, Snap has truly reevaluated its structure and integrated the use of marketing and advertising. This aspect of their application will only continue to grow and expand along with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and I believe it should be added to Hootsuite very soon as another valuable resource for marketing. I must say that I am very pleased with the courses and certifications overall, and that it has opened my eyes to new knowledge and a new perspective on how social media can really be used to the advantage of the user and the company. It has grown far beyond being a tool for communication and leisure, but instead a tool that markets, expands, and brings businesses customers and cash flow.
